Still Life Painting with Kieran Ingram
This short series, now made into a timelapse, shows Kieran breaking down a process for painting simple but realistic looking still life paintings.
He starts by using just one paint colour to make a ‘wash drawing’ which is a great way to get started painting in oils without getting overwhelmed by all the colours.
Then you see how he picks out the main colours in the painting and mixes them so that he can create a solid base before he starts to add detail.
You see how Kieran then adds nice texture to the lemon using smaller brushes.
Finally he adjusts the edges to make the subject more prominent and refining the textures that he has previously added.
Kieran talks through his processes with our students and is currently active across many of our OCAD courses, as well as on our YouTube channel.
