Julián García Sánchez is a Spanish painter and art educator with a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (Sant Jordi Faculty). His academic path took him across Europe, including an Erasmus scholarship in drawing at the Utrecht School of the Arts in Holland, an experience that deepened his belief in learning through immersion, observation, and creative risk-taking.

A practising painter working in the Impressionist tradition, Julián is drawn to light, atmosphere, and the expressive possibilities of en plein air painting. His courses reflect this philosophy: students work outdoors, engage directly with their subjects, and are encouraged to develop their own visual language rather than simply follow rules. The motto of his painting courses, “Break the Rules,” captures his approach to teaching: structured enough to build confidence, open enough to spark genuine creativity. Julián has been teaching art in Spain since 2001, working with students across all age groups and skill levels. He has led painting sessions in locations along the Mediterranean coast and beyond, blending technical instruction with an informal, encouraging atmosphere. His classes are intentionally small, capped at 15 participants, and are conducted in English, Spanish, French, and German, making them accessible to international students living in or visiting Spain.
