We offer a unique opportunity to experience Ghana and to interact with Africans on a personal level – to see for yourself what Africa is really like. We do this by offering residencies at our cultural center and through workshops with indigenous artists. At our cultural center we have areas where people can create their own workshops – often on our rooftop with an inspiring view of the ocean. For the workshops materials are supplied and for self motivated residencies participants supply their own material which can often be purchased on arrival. We are located in a fishing village which offers cultural inspiration.
Sometimes workshops are held at Aba House ,.our cultural center, and often we take you to the traditional village where the indigenous artists live and work. We are flexible in our offerings and work with participants to best meet their needs and expectations.
We do not have traditional studios:
As with many things in Africa we have space available to create work areas. Because we have beautiful weather and a spacious roof deck most participants prefer to work there. If someone has a project that requires an enclosed area, we have that also.We live in a neighborhood where people interact and are curious about what you, the artist, are doing. And since you are in Ghana to lean about the culture this gives you a chance to be part of the community. If you are doing a ceramic workshop we can arrange for work to be fired. And, as stated, for other techniques materials are included by the teachers.
