The Online College of Art and Design has partnered with Falmouth University to offer students a structured pathway to higher education. On successful completion of our Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, students will have the opportunity to apply for a range of online BA (Hons) degrees at Falmouth University with the full support of our academic partnership.
Through this partnership, students benefit from direct access to a dedicated Falmouth University Course Advisor who will guide them through the application and interview process. While this does not constitute an automatic or direct route, our students are well-positioned as strong candidates for Falmouth’s prestigious degree programmes.

Entry Requirements: 16 years or over, 5 GCSEs / IGCSEs including Maths, English and an Art or Photography-related subject linked to an appropriate portfolio (or equivalent international qualifications). Mature students require no exam qualifications, but some ability to draw and paint and a desire to succeed are required. Send an example of your work if unsure of your level.
Part-time programmes (2 years): available all year around – enroling now
Full-time programmes (1 year): start December to January and September to October. Exceptions may apply.

Students receive access to their own online studio where they can work through their course. Units and assignments are listed along with supporting resources, video tutorials for skills development, step by step guides etc. Photographs of students’ completed work are uploaded to their college e-portfolio for assessment and constructive, friendly written feedback on how to progress. Additionally, students are invited to discuss with an experienced and qualified personal tutor their progress and receive face to face verbal feedback, encouragement and support. Students may also benefit from relationships with their fellow online students as they can view profiles and comment on each others’ artwork if they wish.
The programme is structured into four distinct stages: the Exploratory Stage, Pathway Stage, Confirmatory Stage, and Progression Stage. Each stage lasts 12 to 24 weeks, depending on whether you study full-time or part-time. Extensions are available if needed, ensuring flexibility to suit your learning journey.

This introductory stage allows you to delve deeply into the world of art and design, gaining insights into various disciplines. You’ll experiment with a wide range of materials, processes, and techniques, while developing essential skills in drawing and photography as starting points for creative work.

In this stage, you’ll specialise in the discipline that excites and inspires you the most. Guided by feedback from your tutors, who will review your work from the Exploratory Stage, you’ll make a fully informed decision. The final choice is yours, allowing you to focus on the pathway that aligns with your passions and ambitions.
3. Confirmatory Stage
The Confirmatory Stage is the culmination of your foundation diploma and determines your final grade. With the guidance of your tutor, you’ll write a Statement of Intent, outlining your vision for your Final Major Project.
