About this course

The Level 2 Certificate in Art & Design (equivalent to GCSE/BTEC) is an enjoyable beginner to intermediate art course that enables creative students of any age over 14 years to earn nationally accredited certifications from home.

The certificate offers similar opportunities for progression to our Foundation Diploma courses as our GCSE/IGCSE courses, with the added benefit of being 100% coursework based. Coursework is assessed online by an examiner from the exam board. This makes it a great choice for students who experience exam stress.

The course has a strong practical focus, building not just skills, but also knowledge and understanding of art and design, and art history. The course is nationally accredited by one of the largest vocational awarding bodies in the UK, SEG ABC Awards.

It also provides graduates with a valuable specialist portfolio that showcases their unique artistic style, facilitating access to top universities and employment as a qualified professional artist or designer.

How it works

Students are given access to their own online studios where they can progress through their coursework. Here they can find course materials, assignments, and supplemental resources, including video tutorials and guides. Upon completion of work, students should photograph and upload it to their e-portfolios. It is then evaluated by an experienced tutor who provides constructive feedback and encouragement. Students also have the opportunity to communicate directly with their personal tutors, who offer face-to-face feedback and support. As an added benefit, students can interact with their peers online by viewing and commenting on each other’s profiles and work.

Enrichment classes are also offered regularly during term time, providing an optional but enjoyable experience for students. These classes are free of charge. The instructor strives to offer fun and enriching experiences while supporting students with their completion of essential coursework, which may require postponing live lessons from time to time. Please note that the instructor reserves the right to not conduct these optional classes.
